Cándido Rodríguez, Jr.

Presently practicing in New Jersey, Mr. Rodriguez has more than nineteen (19) years of experience in the general practice of law with a heavy concentration on criminal matters and Family Law. Presently, he has the following cases published: State vs. Burbano, 304 N.J. Super 215(Law Div. 1986) and Caro vs. Sher, 296 N.J. Super 594 (N.J. Super Ch., 1996).  

For the period of December 1984 until June 1988, he was the Assistant Deputy Public Defender and Trial Counsel for the Office of the Public Defender in the County of Essex. There he managed a case load of more than 500 cases with defense of criminal offenses ranging from homicide to conspiracy to distribute narcotics. He tried over 150 cases from pre-trial motions to jury verdict. Mr. Rodriguez commenced his career practicing in the Legal Aid Society, Criminal Defense Division. He also worked a legal intern for the Essex-Newark Legal Services, Hispanic Clinic in the City of Newark, New Jersey (1982-1983). He served as law clerk for Frank A. Ortiz, Esq. (1983). 

Mr. Rodríguez received his Juris Doctor degree from the Seton Hall University School of Law in January 1983 and was admitted to the New Jersey Bar on December 1983.Since then, Mr. Rodriguez has been an active member in the legal and local community for the following community service affiliations: Chairman of Panel 6 of the District XII of the District Fee Arbitration Committee (December 3, 1993-August 31, 1997); member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Municipal Courts representing the New Jersey State Hispanic Bar Association (1989); member of the Hispanic National Bar Association; member of the Union County Bar Association; member of the National Board of Directors for the Law School Civil Rights Research Council, Inc.(1982); Vice-president of the Spanish-American Law Students Association (1981-1082); Secretary of the Spanish-American Law Students Association (1979-1980); member of the N.A.A.C.P., Adelphi University Resident Assistant Board and Pre-Law Council (1976-1979); Dean’s List, Adelphi University; Vice-president of the Latin Students Union of Adelphi University (1976-1977); Appointed by the City Manager of Long Beach to Board of service agencies funded by municipal and federal government (1975-1976); Youth Representative, Spanish Brotherhood Board of Directors (1975-1976); and President/co-founder of the Long Beach High School Latin Union (1974-1976). 


Diene Hernández-Rodríguez

Presently practicing in the State of New Jersey, graduated first in her class from Tulane University, School of Law, with a Master of Laws degree in Energy and Environmental Law, with Distinction, in May 1998. At that time, she joined the Law Offices of Hernández & Hernández as an associate and remained there until May 2000. Mrs. Hernández-Rodríguez also provided legal services in a temporary basis as an attorney for the Small Business Administration for the recovery of Puerto Rico after the disaster caused by Hurricane George in September 1998. On December 2000, she joined the Law Offices of Cándido Rodríguez, Jr. as an associate and remained there until December 31, 2001. On January 2002, she co-founded the Law Offices of Cándido Rodríguez, Jr. & Diene Hernández-Rodríguez, L.L.C. Mrs. Hernández-Rodríguez has worked with civil litigation matters, including but not limited to Energy and Environmental Law, Bankruptcy, Family, Social Security for Disability, Torts (Personal Injury/Property Damage), Debt Collection and Contracts. 

Mrs. Hernández-Rodríguez received her Bachelor in Science degree in Biology, cum laude, from the University of Puerto Rico in 1993. She obtained her Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from the Inter American University of Puerto Rico, School of Law, in 1996, and was an active member of the Inter American Law Review for the years of 1994-1996.  

Mrs. Hernández-Rodríguez is admitted to practice law before the Courts of New Jersey and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico as well as the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. Mrs. Hernández-Rodríguez is also a Notary Public in Puerto Rico, member of the Puerto Rico Bar Association, member of the New Jersey Bar Association, member of the Union County Bar Association, member of the American Bankruptcy Institute, member of the American Bar Association, member of the National Law Students Association (1993-1996); member of the Legal Aid Clinic I and II, Inter American University School of Law(1992-1993); member of the Women Law Students Organization (1993-1996), member of the Phi Alpha Delta International Law Fraternity (1993-1996), Dean’s List Honor Roll (1989-1996); member of the American Red Cross, member of the Microbiology Club (1991) and member of the Ecology Club (1992-1993).
